Budget
How do you know which is the most economical system for your structure? Is it steel? Is it wood? Maybe it’s a combination of both. There is volatility in both of these markets. Traditionally, the selection of the structural system is determined by the structural engineer. They may do a cost analysis based on published unit costs. But, how current is that data? What about labor? Labor not only has a substantial impact on the cost of your project, but it impacts the schedule as well. We have the unique ability to anticipate the structural requirements of your project and combine those requirements with up to date material and labor costs. When combined with our structural design, your final construction documents represent the most economical, structurally sound solution.
Design
Our clients often ask us to be part of the design team and city submittal package along with the other architectural and engineering consultants. They do this to ensure that the structural roof design is the most economical system for their specific project. Additionally, they want to reduce lead times by having the engineer as their subcontractor, eliminating most requests for information (RFI’s), speeding up the shop drawing process, and reducing the overall construction schedule.
Build
Safety and productivity are important. And, that’s just the beginning. What would make you proud of your project? Is it that you came in under budget, or that it ran smoothly? Maybe it’s how well you could take care of your client!
What would make your life easier? Would it be helpful if you didn’t have to carry a contingency for things like scope gaps, coordination issues, and solving problems in the field that would have been caught if the right person was looking at the plans beforehand?
Repair
There are so many unknowns for owners and forensic engineers with existing buildings. You want to know that your structure will be whole again and that the work is done right. You need someone with an emphasis on structural integrity who knows what they’re looking at. Structural repairs are often complicated, but they also offer opportunities to get creative. Even after decades of performing repairs, we still get excited by the challenge. We’ve even invented tools and special apparatuses when needed to get the job done right and get you back in business quickly.
